Japanese にほんご

Japanese (日本語/にほんご)is a language spoken by Japanese in Japan and those who know the language. There are three types of scripts, namely: hiragana (ひらがな, katakana (カタカナ, and kanji (漢字. Apart from these, alphabets (also known as romaji) are often used in today's Japanese language. Hiragana is the basic script used in daily conversations. For example, enpitsu (pencil) is written as えんぴつ in hiragana form. Katakana is used for naming objects or places according to its original pronunciation. For example, the name Malaysia in katakana form is written as マレーシヤ (Mare-shiya). As for Kanji, they are modified Chinese wordings. An example for romaji is 'ringo' or apple in English. Notice that the word in romaji is actually written using the Latin alphabets. The classifications of hiragana and katakana scripts are as below:

Exercise A
1) あそこに はこが あります(asokoni hakoga arimasu.)
2) そこに リーさんが います(sokoni risanga imasu.)
3) つくえの なかに きょうかしょが あります(tsukueno ueni kyokashoga arimasu.)
4) かいだんの そばに サリムさんが います(kaidanno sobani sarimusanga imasu.)
5) そとに こどもが おおぜい います(sotoni kodomoga oojei imasu.)

Exercise B
6) おとこの ひとが います。おなの ひとが いません--> おとこの ひとは います。でも、 おなの ひとは いません(otokono hitoga imasu. onano hitoga imasen. --> otokono hitowa imasu. demo, onano hitowa imasen.)
7) まどの そばに リーさんが います--> リーさんは まどの そばに います(madono sobani risanga imasu. --> risanwa madono sobani imasu.)
