Dragonflies

Scientific Classification:
- Order: Odonata

Physical Appearance:
Two pairs of strong transparent wings
Three segments of its body part: head, thorax, abdomen
Three pairs of legs, large multifaceted eyes, nymph has extendable jaws, an elongated body or abdomen
When resting, wings are held perpendicular to the body
Use the legs to catch hold of preys instead of crawling like most insects do
Able to fly in six different directions: forward, backward, left, right, upward, and downward
- Life cycle: egg - nymph - dragonfly (adult)
Incomplete metamorphosis
Food Source:
Nymph: They are carnivorous which feed on smaller invertebrates or vertebrates. Some feed on other smaller nymphs
Adult: Feed on smaller insects such as bees, ants, mosquitoes and flies
