Physical Appearance:

- Wings: A pair of wings on the mesothorax and a pair of halteres on the metathorax

- Three segments on its body part: head, thorax and abdomen

- The second segment of the thorax bears the wings and the third segment bears the halters

- Three pairs of legs, a pair of short antennae, a fleshy proboscis, large compound eyes and three ocelli or small eyes
- Life cycle: egg - larva - pupa - fly (adult)

- Complete metamorphosis
Food Source:

- Larva or maggot: Rotting organic matter

- Adult: Liquid food

Mosquitoes

Physical Appearance:

- A pair of wings

- Three segments on its body part: head, thorax, abdomen

- Three pairs of legs, a pair of long segmented antennae (males have bushy and longer palps), a stinger for feeding (females have elongated proboscis), a segmented abdomen which can expand
- Life cycle: egg - larva - pupa -mosquito (adult)

- Complete metamorphosis
Food Source:

- Larva: Algae, bacteria and other micro-organisms on the water surface

- Adult: Both male and female mosquitoes feed on nectar and other source of sugar but female also requires blood meal as a protein source for the development of the eggs
