On 5/9/2009, my roommate, Poh Xuan went on a trip with her friends to the turtle conservation centre which was located in Cherating, Pahang. The conservation centre 'Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia - Pusat Penerangan dan Santuari Penyu', is a place for hatching and conserving sea turtles. According to her, there were a lot of species of sea turtles, placed in different locations or breeding areas. Besides, there were a bountiful of coral display in the centre too. Baby sea turtles are kept in certain breeding area until they are mature enough to be placed with other adult sea turtles. Apart from this, the area for hatching the eggs is located near the centre and is fenced up. It is a good thing that the government is aware of the issue regarding the extinction of local sea turtles. Below are some of the pictures taken from her videos.
