Putrajaya

Recently on the 25th and 26th October 2009, we had visited a total of 3-4 places around and in Putrajaya. The trip was held by our faculty and only Project Management students were involved. On the first day, we managed to depart from our university at around 8am even though we were supposed to depart at 7am as scheduled. The journey to Putrajaya took around 5 hours. We had a stop after an hour or two for breakfast and rest at the R&R just beside the highway. After that, we proceeded with the journey and reached our first destination which was the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) at around 1pm.

The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is a place where events such as MotoGP and Formula 1 racings are held. On the day of the trip, the event held was MotoGP race involving various participants from different countries including the well-known Valentino Rossi from Itally, who is a multiple MotoGP World Champion. After we got down from the bus, we had to walk all the way under the hot sun to the entrance. There were more than a few thousand of visitors on that day. The parking lots were full and there were a lot of tourists that came by tour buses. It took us around 20 minutes to reach the entrance. The image below shows the gates to the entrance for spectators. Ours was the 5th gate.

There were booths showcasing various promotional items and games for visitors. While walking to the spectator ground, I noticed this gigantic digital board that displays the information of the race.

The race was delayed due to some reasons (I don't know why) but managed to commence at 2:30pm sharp. Around that time before the race, it rained heavily. There was a MotoGP safety car checking the condition of the circuit ensuring that the track is safe before it is allowed to begin. Below are some of the images that I took from where I stood at the spectator ground.

During the race, a racer's motorcycle skidded and he fell to the ground but luckily he was not injured. After the race, we headed back to our bus. Our next destination was Hijjab Resort which was located just within a residential neighbourhood. There was a huge fishing pond near the resort and there were people fishing at that time of the night still. While trying to locate the resort, we got lost and so we checked in late but thankfully, things were good and everyone arrived safely. After we got our keys, me and my friends headed to our room to place our things and prepared ourselves for dinner.

After dinner, we played some games as instructed by our lecturers. We played a total of three games which include creating our own jinggles, played a short funny drama, answered some quizzes by naming the states in Africa and also naming countries from A-Z alphabetically. It was fun and in the end, everyone won the same type of prize - icecream!! LOL Our dean attended the dinner too and he handed the prizes to the winners. Hehe...

The next morning, we packed our things as early as 7am and had our breakfast at 7:30am. We checked out and departed from the resort before 9am. These are some of the images at the resort.

Our next visit was the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) office. We went there for some Q&A session with the officer. He showed us some history of the GP in Malaysia and how the SIC project was developed. The whole session took around an hour or two. It was worth while. Before returning back to the bus, I managed to take some of these images at the museum.

At around 12pm, we departed to Alamanda Putrajaya which is a shopping mall to have our lunch. At 2pm, we headed to the Perbadanan Putrajaya. Below are some of the images that I took along the journey.

Half an hour later, we arrived at our destination. Upon our arrival, we were invited to the meeting room for the Q&A session. During the session, we were briefed on the construction work around Putrajaya together with some information regarding the plan in developing Putrajaya. Besides, they showed us the Putrajaya development plan and the facilities that they had built for the public such as recreational park, the Alamanda shopping mall and so forth. The whole session took more than two hours. At around 5pm, we headed to the mosque. For muslims, they went for their prayers. For non-muslims, we spent our time taking photos outside of the mosque.

At around 6:30pm, we departed back to our university. It was an enjoyable trip. We had learnt a lot especially during the Q&A sessions. For me, I had the greatest time of all taking photos of sceneries and flowers. LOL
