On the 16th of October 2009, I went to the Japanese Language camp in Felda Tekam, Pahang with my 'coursemates' together with those taking up the Arabic Language. The camp was organized by our lecturers. We spent 3 days and 2 nights at the resort. These are some of the images that I took outside our hostels.
On the first night of the trip, we had activities involving the use of numbers (those who took up Japanese language will have to count using the language and vice versa) and group presentations. We got our uniforms that night too after the activities. This is the uniform. An 's' size for me because I am SMALL... XD
On the second day of the trip after aerobic exercise, we had our breakfast at the canteen. After getting my breakfast, I sat down with my friends at the nearby table. I was speechless when my friends wished me 'Happy Birthday'. LOL I didn't even realize it was my birthday. Guess I had too many things on my mind. These are some of the images that I took around the canteen.
After breakfast, our next activity was treasure hunt. Had to use the compass. .-. It started at 9am 'til around 1pm due to some problems. Some groups cheated, so unfair. LOL Below is a picture of an olive tree. It was part of our treasure hunt quest. Olive is one of the rarest tree planted in Malaysia, well as told by my lecturer.
Then, we had our light lunch. The following activities were guessing game and crossword puzzles. For guessing game, a volunteer from each group had to act out and the rest will guess the answers. My group scored 8/10 for that activity. Hehe... After the activities, we were allowed to rest and practiced for our drama presentations which were held at around 8:30pm that night. There were a total of 8 groups performing dramas in Japanese and a few groups performed in Arabic. Guess what! My group got the first place! LOL we scored 18/20. Our drama was based on a classic Malay fairy tale which was 'Bawang Putih Bawang Merah'. I was the narrator (the one with the pink scarf lol). We actually made the script in two languages but I heard we could use English, so I used English instead of Japanese. I wanted everyone to understand the story line. But those performing the drama had to converse in Japanese. After the drama, my lecturer commented that I should have used the Japanese language instead. XD
Here's the synopsis. It's about a poor young lady (Bawang Merah) who lived with her mother together with her stepsister and stepmother in a village near the woods. Her mother was murdered by her stepmother and which was then turned into a fish (reminder: this is a fairy tale, so yeah lol). But sadly, her stepmother realized it and took the opportunity to catch the fish and which later she cooked it for that poor girl, Bawang Merah as her dinner. A fairy came to Bawang Merah's dream that night and told her to bury the bones of the fish (her mother) deep in the forest. She did what was told the next day and suprisingly, a tree grew upon the grave that she dug. She sat on the swing and sang everyday. One day, a prince saw her and was attracted to her voice. He then decided to marry her. There were conflicts after that but in the end, they both got married and lived happily ever after in the castle.
On the last day of the trip which was on Sunday, we had our aerobic exercise again in the morning at around 7:30am. But this time, the aerobic instructor taught us hip-hop dance. LOL Gosh it was so difficult! I laughed all the way throughout the exercise. The steps were so hard and tiring. We had to move our shoulders and danced from side to side. But it was cool. It was something new to me. Haha.. This was where the instructor lead the exercise (picture below).
After exercising, we had our breakfast just like yesterday morning. At around 9:30am, we had rafting activity. Each group had to make their own rafts using raphia strings, barrels and other materials provided by the rafting instructor. These are some of the pictures that I took along the journey to the rafting area and during the activity. It was a long walk but it was worth it. The trees, the air and the landscape as well were beautiful.
After the activity, some went back to the hostels while me and some of my friends went to the nearby swimming pool. But the saddest part is, I can't swim. Q.Q I almost got drown during the first try submerging into the pool because I slipped from the ladders but luckily my friend pulled me out. And because of that, I spent my time playing and having fun at a shallower ground. I need swimming lessons. I'm missing out the fun. LMAO
At around 1pm, we headed back to our hostels and took our bath. Later, we had our lunch and packed our things. But before we leave, we had a meeting with the lecturers. The results for the overall competitions were anounced and my group got 2nd place out of 8 groups. Hehehe... At around 3pm, we departed back to our university. It was a great and memorable trip. I love the sceneries and the quiet surroundings. =) And yeah, all the points that we had collected from these activities will be added into our coursework mark. So, yay!!
